What is Reiki ?
Reiki is a Japanese word which is pronounced ‘Ray
Key’. The Japanese kanji for Reiki consists of two parts
:
Rei – Universal, Transcendental Spirit
Ki – Life Force. Ki is the vital force that flows through
everything.
Reiki evolved in Japan. Dr Usui developed the healing System.
He spent his life practicing and teaching Reiki. Today the
traditional teachings are passed down from Reiki Masters to
students
Reiki works as a holistic healing system i.e it works on
the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your
life.
Benefits
It balances your energy in the aura and the chakra systems,
restoring good health and reducing stress.
Reiki is not a replacement for “conventional medicine”.
It works side by side, improving the effects of medical treatments.
It can relieve pain and help acute injuries heal quickly.
Reiki can give a sense of peace and enhancement of quality
of life.
It works wherever it is needed, releasing blocked energies
and removing toxins from the body.
Cancer patients claim it helps with pain management, relaxation
and side effects of cancer.
Treatment
The client lies on the couch fully clothed. The treatment
can be carried out with the person sitting in the chair if
they are unable to lie down.
The practitioner can either place their hands on specific
areas of the clients body or just above the person’s
body.
The preferred method of Heather and David as practitioners
are hands just above the body of the client. They will then
scan the body for heat spots to establish where there may
be a blockage in the chakras.
Treatments last between 40 and 50 minutes.
Following a treatment most practitioners recommend the clients
sits quietly for 10 minutes with a glass of water.
Cost £ 25 per treatment (including £1 donation
to George

Absent reiki healing is also offered. This is especially designed
for those clients who may be unable to attend for treatment
in person.
This is usually performed by the practitioner using a photograph
of the client. A suitable time for both the client and practitioner
is arranged. The client lies on their bed at home relaxing
while the practitioner sends the healing.
The treatment usually lasts about 20 to 30 minutes.
Cost £10 per treatment (including £1 donation
to George
Thomas Hospice)
Introductory Special offer £8 for first
treatment
Frequently Asked Questions
Q How often do I require reiki?
A It depends on the individual and what the
person’s ailment /problem is. Most people need a couple
of sessions to clear any blocked chakras and balance them.
Then it is up to the individual to decide if they require
more. Some people come on a regular basis as they just like
the feeling Reiki generates but obviously this is dependant
on the person’s financial situation.
Q Can Reiki harm me ?
A Reiki can never harm a person. It is non intrusive healing.
Q Can anybody receive Reiki
A Most people can but there are a few exceptions i.e
Broken bones – the bone must be set before receiving
reiki otherwise healing will begin with the bone in the wrong
postion. Once the bone is in plaster Reiki can be received.
* Pregnancy – Reiki is safe for pregnant women but
most practitioners prefer not to do it in the first three
months of the pregnancy. After that most practitioners are
happy to give Reiki.
* Pacemakers – As Reiki is an energy itself most practitioners
prefer not to treat people with a pacemaker as it could have
an effect on the pacemaker.
* Under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
