What is Indian Head Massage ?

Indian Head Massage originates from Ayurvedic healing, dating back a few thousand years ago. Massage was used by Indian families as part of daily life for relaxation and healing.

Indian Head Massage works by releasing toxins and stress from the tissues, joints and muscles in the head, neck, face, shoulders, arms and hands.

TREATMENT

The client sits in the chair fully clothed. The practitioner performs a series of massages, strokes, gentle pressing on pressure points on the head, neck, shoulders, face, arms and hands.

A treatment usually last between 30 to 40 minutes. Most practitioners like the client to relax quietly for 10 minutes with a glass of water before leaving.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How often should I have a treatment?
A. This depends the health of the client i.e how stressed they are, muscle tightness, if they suffer from headaches etc

Q. Can anybody have an Indian Head Massage treatment ?
A. Most people can have treatment but there are some conditions where receiving a Head Massage may not be advisable :
*History of thrombosis or embolism
* First three monthly of pregnancy
* Disorders of the nervous system such as MS
* Serious skin conditions
* Scalp infection
* Under the influence of drugs or alcohol

If the client has any serious health problems it is better to consult with a GP before having a treatment

Q. Are there any side effects?
A. The client may feel a little light headed/dizzy. This will pass after the client has sat quietly with a glass of water. Also they may have an increased desire to urinate (as the body is eliminating toxins).
